Introduction BI BETA 3 - Immediate boarding With the long-standing success of the BI BETA 1 and BI BETA 2, ADVANCE has become the benchmark manufacturer of tandem paragliders, for professional as well as for leisure pilots. The BI BETA has a lot of plus points, but what really makes the difference? The answer is simple: the BI BETA 3 is one of the easiest and most delightful paragliders in the tandem category. The friendly take-off and landing characteristics coupled with the ease of control inspire a confidence in the wing that allows both pilot and passenger to enjoy the sensation of pure flight Design The BI BETA 3 has a new three-coloured design just like the ALPHA 3, EPSILON 4 and SIGMA 5. The profile and suspension layout of the BI BETA 3 are entirely new: 4 risers but 5 groups of lines : 4A - 3B - 5C - 5D. Most of the cells receive a line for more stability, safety and for a longer lifetime. The other cells have diagonal reinforcements and Compression straps, on the A, B, B´, C and D lines: the distance between the cell walls always remains the same in order to maintain the profile and give better performance in the turn. Reinforced leading edge, with Mylar : better rigidity and stability of the wing. The cell width diminishes progressively as you go from the centre to the wing tips. The 3 last cells are closed. The three-level suspension lines have been optimised to reduce drag and make it easier to untangle. Technical Innovations innovative Trimmers system with flat auto-block buckles instead of claws buckles (which tend to quickly wear away the straps). Trimmers give more safety in case the passenger is light or the wind is strong. When loosing the trimmers, ad 7cm to the D risers and 3,5 cm to the C risers, increasing the penetration of the glider. Big ears Kit, special for tandem: on a tandem wing, making the big ears is generally very physical. That is why we have developed a system to fix the big ears. That enables the pilot to keep the brakes in the hands. Construction Details As usual at ADVANCE, even the smallest details are important. The BI BETA 3 is meticulously built: All internal stitching The leading and trailing edges are reinforced with a Mylar border The winglets on the wing tips are aerodynamic elements but also ADVANCE signature The lines remain in the correct position on their small quick links with the incorporation of a plastic clip The brake handles are reinforced, easy to take hold of, and comfortable. They incorporate swivel links to prevent twists in the brake lines and have magnetic snaplocks to fix them on the risers The wing tips have a Velcro opening for removing debris The braking system is optimised with rings that activate the braking on the wing tips first The buckles of the trimmers are coated with neoprene: they do not come loose nor hurts the pilot’s arms. Behaviour Take off ... Easy and progressive inflation, even in a light or nil wind: the BI BETA 3 rises progressively, without a hard point, comes straight up, does not overtake the pilot and needs less speed to take-off. In flight ... Progressive spiral braking: perfect speed and amplitude reaction. The pleasure of the BI BETA 3 is similar to the BIBETA 2 but with lighter brakes, less brake range and more precision in the turn. Landing ... A good approach speed and a nice flare stop the glider instantly so there is often no need to take a step!
