The ADVANCE Team is the big winner of the 2005 Swiss championship. Even if the title goes to Stefan Morgentaler, our pilots have clearly dominated the race with the victory in both tasks ! The difference between Stephan and Steve Cox is 9 points only, and 2 points between Steve and Chrigel Maurer ! With such small differences, we can imagine the suspense in case a 3rd task could be flown... The competition took place in Lenk, in Bernese Oberland, only 40 km south of Thun.
Unfortunately due to the bad weather condition during the last 2 days, two tasks only are valid, but two times 70 km in great conditions. It was really a great competition, specially the second task from Lenk to Gstaad and landing in the centre of Interlaken city. Above the Stockhorn at 3300 m, Steve Cox, the new 2005 world champion and winner of the task, said that Thun lake was very small 2700 m lower ! He flew above the whole lake during the final glide to the Höhenmatte in Interlaken.
Task One 68,2 km
1 - Chrigel MAURER / ADVANCE
2 - Kari EISENHUT / ADVANCE
3 - Stephan MORGENTHALER / GIN
4 - Steve COX / ADVANCE
5 - Andy BIRENSTHIL / ADVANCE
Task Two 69,1 km
1 - Steve COX / ADVANCE
2 - Stephan MORGENTHALER / GIN
3 - Chrigel MAURER / ADVANCE
4 - Manuel CROCI / SWING
5 - Andy BIRENSTHIL / ADVANCE
Thanks and congratulaution to all pilots and all the best for the rest of the comp season !

Great take off for ADVANCE at the first PWC!
European Champion Chrigel Maurer won the first PWC 2005 in Bulgaria, Eliane Ueltschi went third in the women’s results.
There was a lot of bad weather at the first PWC in Sopot, Bulgaria. It was only possible to fly two tasks. Chrigel was able to win the overall results. He was flying with the right mix between tactic and speed and finished 5th. and 8th. Eliane was able to proof here performance, not only as a technical advisor here at ADVANCE, but in the air as well.
Elä: I am very happy with this start in the new season. Unfortunately we have been able only to fly two regular tasks. My goal for the ongoing season is to finish regularly in the top five. To be able to finish the first Race at the podium makes me really happy. But most important is still to have fun up in the air!
Chrigel: The 65km task on Sunday was very fast. There was one Turn point out in the flat, this was the only real tricky situation. I was with the head of the race and was able to finish 5th. After two days without regular tasks, we got strong winds from the north, so tricky conditions again. But thanks to the great thermals we have been able to fly a 75km task. There have been different possibilities to fly this task and it was not possible to see who was flying in which Position. It was really exciting until the end. I was lucky to be able to regain altitude again, as i was once only 50 meters above the ground. Thanks to two tasks in the top ten I was the lucky one to win the overall results.
